It's best to send out all documents in PDF. The only people you should be sharing original MSWord or Pages documents with is someone else who you want to have editing privileges. In a PDF, all your formatting is locked by default. You might also think to create it in a common font, like Helvetica or Times, so that it looks the same on your computer as it does on the receiving end.
