Noticed this just came out on Friday. It's one of the few bits of field
research I know of that tries to measure actual usage of screen readers,
platforms and other related demographic data. There were over 2500
respondents from around the world although a bit more than 2/3 came from
North America. In the Screen Readers Commonly Used section VoiceOver
still comes in 3rd at 31% after NVDA 41% and JAWS 44%. JAWS dropped
almost 20% while Window-Eyes jumped about 15% so I assume the Microsoft
Office bundle is causing JAWS to loose share. NVDA also ticked up 10%
while Voiceover dropped about 6%. If the current trends hold Voiceover
might be #4 next time.
