Hello Jesse, There are several possible answers to this.
1) Using the VO keys, VO-Shift-Right or Left arrow will read by letter. 2) With Quick Nav on, press the left and up arrows together and select "Characters", then the up and down arrows will read by letter. 3) Without the VO keys, right arrow and left arrow alone should read letter by letter.
