I find it usable for downloading books on the Mac. I only use it for downloading books though. I then just copy the folder of downloading books onto an SD card for use on my Pocket Plextalk for actually reading the books.
I have not gone near the iOS version of Overdrive as there have been others who have criticised it. If you wanted to hear the books on your iOS device I should suggest simply using Voice Dream Reader to do this as this apparently works well with mp3 audio books. I do not do this as I still use my Plextalk but this is a suggestion. You may have to zip the files to be read in Voice Dream but I have not investigated this.
