So Apple has a pretty interesting infrastructure.  They have their own CDN 
(content distribution network) as well as several geographically diverse data 
centers and a ton of private and public peering.  Torrents might distribute the 
load but remember a lot of carriers also block torrents or more annoyingly slow 
them down and deprioritise them or outright block them depending on how their 
sand vines are configured.  So that may throw a bit of a wrench in things.
