If you’re talking about FileVault, yes it is possible to use it eyes-free. Apple has a system of beeps on older Macs and recorded voice prompts on newer Macs which allow you to use speech during the login process. Personally I prefer to avoid it entirely unless typing the password and enter fails, since it slows the process down drastically and in any case doesn’t say very much that is useful or work in any way other than that prescribed, which means you won’t get speech in any other situation.
