the risks are not as low ask you think. THere are already about 12 cross platform packages out there that will infect a mac almost as easily as windows (only it still requires user intervention to give it admin level rights).Also, as MS loses more of its market share (given their latest release of windows 10, its not surprising), the other OS'es (especially OS X) will gain ascendency and thus become a bigger target. THis has already happened in the smart phone arena with infected jail broken phones infecting non-jail broken phones, and also an infected Xcode tools binary originating out of china (gee I wonder why).
The best security as a user is this: never assume your machine is safe.
