Remember, nothing prevents you installing a copy of El Capitan on an external
drive or in a separate partition if you’d like to.

Having said this, my recommendation still stands: stay put. There are bugs that
are well-known, which have been reported to Apple (and I know because I’ve done
it) and which have simply not been fixed. That includes activities, hotspots
and Safari text editing. And I’m absolutely not at liberty to say that, alas,
even the latest beta (which you should be running, if you can) is not immune,
although thank goodness it does appear the fixes are coming for some of the
reported issues so somebody is actually listening.

My MacBook Pro, which is my secondary machine on which I do all my
experimenting while I’m home, now has Windows 8.1 on it as its only OS. I am
saving up for the latest upgrades to all my Windows screen readers. The end
days are almost upon us. :)
