I haven't used this program myself, but some people on the mac-access list are quite enthusiastic about this program and its (accessible) use, and compare it favorable to Exact Audio Copy. This program is open source freeware: http://tmkk.hp.infoseek.co.jp/xld/index_e.html By report, the program supports both GUI and command line interfaces, and can operate in batch mode. It handles standard FLAC, OGG FLAC, Apple Lossless, and many other standard audio formats. It also supports embedded cue sheets and can get meta data from the CDDB database. Seems to be under active development, since the latest release version is November 8, 2009. Alternatively, you can go to the macupdate site to download the software and read the review comments: http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/23430 This appears to include updated support for Snow Leopard. You'd probably get more detailed discussion from individuals on the mac- access list.
