Apparently there is the possibility if you have a gMail account of getting the Gmail based notes that are produced on the Macintosh running Yosemite to be visible to the IOS 9 systems. Look at the internet accounts area and check if there is a Notes area in your Gmail account. If so enabling this should make things nice again.
