David, I use this feature constantly and writer. I do extensive writing and editing using that to finger double tap to insert words here and there as well as full paragraph dictation. The only thing I can think is sometimes I have seen this fail. In those cases a race the program from the app switcher and relaunch. That always cleared it up for me. Other than that I can't imagine what the problem might be as I said I use The feature on a regular basis.
