Hi,
The Apple TV 4th generation doesn't have optical audio out, but if you
get a receiver that has an HDMI input, just connect the HDMI cable from
the 4th gen apple tv to the receiver and using another HDMI cable,
connect the receiver to your TV. HDMI sends both a video signal and
audio using the same cable.
Newere receivers can have multiple HDMI inputs and one HDMI output
connections. You can do the same with the third generation apple tv as
well as it has an HDMI port.
Also make sure your TV has an HDMI connection or the Appple TV won't
work anyway.
