Hi Mike, I was under the impression that if re-installing the OS from the recovery partition, the latest Version of the OS would be installed. So, even if, as I’mn my case, you were running Yosemite and you reinstalled from the yosemite recovery partition, it would bring down and install El Capitan, not Yosemite. Am I mistaken? if so, is that why you needed first to install El Cap as an upgrade to get the updated recovery partition?
