Hi Andrew,

Make sure external disks show up by using Finder Preferences, and all the
partitions should become visible.

I personally like to show all disks, i.e. check all the drives in Preferences.
This makes it easier to find them and verify they’re connected.

Time Machine doesn’t show partitions that it mounts itself; a nice change seen
as of Mavericks that really disappears the subsystem into the background,
especially for network backups. I don’t know whether this would be possible if
the USB device were fully ejected, however.

Cheers,
Sabahattin
