Thanks, that helps a lot. The preferences I was referring to were, well, 
anything. If I have VO enabled, and someone else logs into their account, VO 
would continue to be enabled. That is, it's not like user accounts on a 
computer.

What about apps, though? If I buy an app, then someone else logs into their 
account, could we still use the app I bought? I imagine the only problem would 
be updates, where it would want my password?

Either way, it's great to know that switching accounts is pretty easy.
