Thanks for the input. I’m looking at my options. I am trying to avoid public clouds wherever possible, but it looks like I’ll end up using one of these.
And, yes, Safari Shared Links do indeed sync (if you happen to use iCloud for syncing Safari, which I do). That’s something. And you can use News as an RSS reader, albeit one that sucks pretty hard (and doesn’t use the same Safari subscriptions). RSS has come pretty far since I last looked. Sadly, the trend has been towards centralisation of the worst kind—an ironic fate, really, for a technology intended precisely to avoid centralised information platforms. Now we have all these syncing platforms with incompatible APIs that your client has to work with, with clients connecting to the centralised hubs, and the hubs receiving the real-time updates from the publishers.
