You can use it on both the Mac and iPhone. It's in the keyboard part of
settings and system preferences.

Hello Gena,
On the Mac, to add a string and substitution:• In System Preferences, press k
for Keyboard and VO-Space to open that tab;• Select Text;• Press VO-Cmd-t to go
to the table of substitutions;• Press VO-Down Arrow to get to the Add button;•
Press VO-Space on the button and type your string;• Press VO-Right Arrow and
type your expanded text.
That’s it. To add a line break, press Option-Return.
Cheers,
Anne

Hello Jonathan,
That’s exactly what I want to do but do they get carried across all your
devices or do you have to enter them on each device you wish to use? On the Mac
You have to do a lot of VO navigation, after pressing the add button, you have
to VO 9 times. As for IOS, the focus seems to vary using my Apple keyboard. So
I purchased text expander and the touch version. But that is great for bigger
snippets. Have you found a quick way of entering abbreviations on the Mac? I
wonder if you use a lot of the braille contractions? I had put them in my phone
but then removed them because I put a space after them. I used the semicolon
for the 4,5 prefix and the colon for 4,5,6, oh and the full stop as dot 5 or 6.
Oh and I wondered have you found a way to put a line break, so you could do
things like postal addresses? BTW: Do you know what is the maximum character
length?
I look forward to any comments and or tips you might have in respect of the
above.

Hi Gina, I use the text expansion built into Mac and iOS and it's a huge time
saver. I've got a lot of three-letter abbreviations that result in expansion
into very lengthy messages. It's great for inquiries I get regularly, and I
like that once I get an expansion added, it's available on all my OS X and iOS
devices. It rocks rather majorly I reckon.

Hello all ,

I wondered if any use txt expansion on their IOS or Mac? While I can input my
abbreviations myself, it seems it is a very
Painful exercise using Apple's shortcut options in keyboard shortcuts.

Is there an app that has  predefined routines?
A common method is to not type vowel letters for example.

Many thanks

Gena
