Hello Simon, I don't know if anyone else has responded to your question so I will offer a suggestion.
Were I you, the first thing I would do would be to turn off the Bluetooth radio on my computer, then restart the Mac and see what happens. However when I get rid of this message I get no speech automatically from Voiceover so I turn it off and then on using command f5 and on voiceover coming on I hear a message saying authentication but I have no password field or username even to select to enter a password for.
