Forget about Adobe it's a joke to say the least.

As Tim has stated PDF Pen Pro is quite good for more complex things.

Haven't got it yet but it's on my app list.

For basic pdf reading, Preview works fine for me. For fancier pdf's, I use PDFPenPro. It's far from free though.
