Hello Scott, You ask a very good question.
The short of it is that I'm not certain. In fact, it may just be fuzzy thinking on my part but I can tellyou that I have discovered that simply rebooting a router can, in my experience, repair connection problems for which there does not seem to be any logical explanation. Regardless, rebooting the router as a troubleshooting step can't hurt anything (smile).
