Found this interesting article about Apple leaving their kernel code 
unencrypted.  This allows people to examine the kernel and look behind the 
curtain a bit on how things work.  Most importantly it exposes vulnerabilities 
to public scrutiny.  It’s not known if this was intentional or accidental 
although speculation in the article leans towards intentional.  Read more here.
