Michael, If I get this correctly, the machine you wish to control is in the same room you are in in that case yes you can use the apple remote desktop tool, only thing is that you need the speech to come out on your remote machine which isn’t possible.
You can however get the speech from the machine your accesing and then use it from a distance.
