I might be speaking too soon, but it seems to have gone away after i restarted the computer. Activate Dropbox from the menu extras. go to the Menu button and activate that. Move to Preferences. Once there, you will be inside the toolbar. Stop interacting with that and move to “Dropbox badge.” Change the dropdown there to Never show.
