The reason, Bill, is simple. With Apple’s adapter, you only get 3.5MM to lighting but you cannot charge because there is no charging port on the adapter. This Belkin adapter solves that. How, again, simple. YOu plug this Belkin adapter in to the lightning port, then you plug the 3.5 Apple adapter in to it. So, as you can see, not a waist of money at all. Look more carefully.
