Ramy, Is this on your laptop, or Mini? Note that on a laptop, there are two different categories for Energy Saver, one for on battery, and the other for when you're connected to power. They are independent of each other. I recommend that you do not set it to never when on battery power, but set it to never when connected to power. This is how I have mine set, so that if I'm doing something that will take some time, I simply plug in the adaptor, whereas when on battery power, it will still sleep to conserve battery life. Your settings should work as you set them and should not require a third party app.
Regarding your second question, Georgina's answer works, just remember that it needs to be the right option key with the letter t. Later...
