You can move to the beginning and end of documents with Command-Up  
Arrow and Command-Down Arrow. You can also select from your present  
location to the beginning or end of documents by holding down the  
Shift key with those commands (e.g.  Command-Shift-Up Arrow selects to  
the beginning of a document and Command-Shift-Down Arrow selects to  
the end of a document).  In documents, Option up arrow and Option down  
arrow move to the beginning and end of paragaphs.

movement and selection command combinations.  They're part of Mac OS X  
(not specific to VoiceOver), and work with all Cocoa based apps --

I didn't know about Option-Up arrow working in the messages table --  
you have to keep holding down the keys for a bit to get that to work.
