There is a thermal cutoff built in to the I7 as well as one on the battery. You should be good to go. Just remember that MacBook 15 tends to get very toasty. I brought it up to 16 virtual machines the other day each dedicated with a core and between 256 and 512 MB and the fan never shut off but it ran nicely all be it burned through that battery awful fast.
