Hi, I have, probably, six users on my MBP and I'm not experiencing this. I have had it happen to me on occasion on numerous iMacs at work in Yosemite, El Capitan and Sierra. What I've found in those cases, is that the iMac screen has gone to sleep, not the iMac itself, just the display as I've set all our machines to never go to sleep. So, like you, I just click the mouse or trackpad and I'm good to go. It seems that when the display goes to sleep, VO gains focus on whatever app is handling the sleepy-time and thus is not focused on the authentication screen. Clicking on the mouse remedies that for me.

I am exceedingly worried about this because no one else so far has reported it on the list. Can it be my mac?
