What would be interesting to know is if anyone running El Capitain on an older
machine got the separate message on-screen asking you to update. The AppStore
since it is a web page is probably just checking the some basics. When you
tried to update to Siera did it fail after downloading 4 GB of unusable stuff
or did it fail as soon as you click install? The latter would be frustrating of
course, but no real harm. If I was on limited bandwidth or a slow internet and
only discovered after downloading the installer that it would not work, I would
agree with the complaints.
