First, let’s deal with the run time. You can find it in the tool bar over on
the very right hand side. Now, let’s discuss quickly moving through a file.
Sounds like you need to know how to zoom in and out. So, here goes. To zoom
out as much as possible, press the dash key, (just to the right of the zero key
on the number row) This will give you the greatest degree of playback curser
movement possible. To zoom in, which will do the opposite, use the plus simble.

Now, have you figured out markers yet? Believe me, using markers really speeds
things up quite nicely. I suspect this is a good time to talk about curser
routing. Actually, you have to cursers to deal with. You can think of one of
them as a kind of playback head. It moves when you use the right and left
arrow keys. But, bear this in mind, you are still not moving the actual
insertion point; just the playback head curser. So, let’s say you get to a
spot where you want to drop a marker. You’d press space to stop, and then,
press Command+y. This will instantly rout the actual insertion point to the
spot your play head is on. IF you press the p key, you set a marker. There’s
another way to set a marker which will open a nameing dialog but we will not
deal with that here. IF you find yourself in a situation where you want or
need to rout the playback head curser to the insertion point, just use
shift+command+y. That should be enough to at least get you started.

Oh, when you select a piece of audio, the usual rules apply. Copy to clip
board is command+c. Paste is Command+v and so on.

HTH.
