It's possible to know whether you've been "homed," as the hackers call it when they discover a password associated with your email. For hacks like these that have been acknowledged, it's possible to know whether you're among them by using the database at:
https://haveibeenpwned.com/ I learned that I was homed in the Last.FM breach, and my Last.FM passwd was cracked in September of 2014. Funny, I found that site not to my liking and never used it after first signing up so many years ago. So, since we've been discussing spam and phishing attacks, I thought we should also be aware of available resources to help us with our inherently unreliable passwords. You all are using a password vault of some kind, right? Because you're using very long, ultra cryptic passwords that are impossible for humans to remember? Especially since you have a different one for each site you login with, right? We're all doing that, right? <grin> Janina -- Janina Sajka, Phone: +1.443.300.2200 sip:[email protected] Email: [email protected] Linux Foundation Fellow Executive Chair, Accessibility Workgroup: http://a11y.org The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) Chair, Accessible Platform Architectures http://www.w3.org/wai/apa -- The following information is important for all members of the Mac Visionaries list.
