Hi,

I'd expect that if you have it set to require the password after eight hours,
that it wouldn't do this, but take a look under the Energy Saver System
Preference. There will be two tabs in there, one for when the computer is on
battery power and one for when it's connected to AC power. the display is
likely set to go to sleep after about 5 minutes. This is a good thing for
saving battery life. In either case though, the eight hours should normally
override the need for the password. I wouldn't recommend leaving it awake and
unprotected that length of time anyway, but that is really your decision. I
usually recommend that the display goes to sleep after about five minutes when
on battery and the computer goes to sleep either 5 or 10 minutes of inactivity.
when on power adaptor, that could be changed. In my case, I let the display
go to sleep at the regular interval, but tell the computer to never sleep when
on AC power. Again, it's your choice, but for security purposes, it's much
better to have it require that password after sleep or inactivity.

Hello everyone.

I am trying to work out why my mac is displaying the login panel about five
minutes after inactivity and can't figure it out. I have set the screen saver
to never start and have told the system to require a password 8 hours after
sleep or screensaver begins. This is on an early 2015 13 inch Macbook Pro
running Sierra.

Any responses will be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.
