Sounds like what has happened to you is that you have two factor authentication 
turned on.  IF the special code shows up on your iPHone, you need to make sure 
your curser is focused on the six boxes for that code.  as you enter each 
digit, you are moved along to the next box.  Now, here’s another posibility.  
Maybe the code you need is showing up in a seperate window on your desk top 
machine.  In any case, you can just enter that code in to the six boxes and you 
should be fine.  ON my Mac, one is moved from one box to the next automatically 
  IF you are using a windows desk top, I cannot say for sure that this happens: 
 but, based on your description, I’d guess it ain’t happening for you that way.
