Hi all, it has been 90 days since my last back up. I have tried a few times, but Time Machine seems super sluggish. It prepares the backup, cleans up old backups, etc. Ordinarily, this takes maybe a few minutes, but recently it is taking over a half hour.
My first thought is, should I delete old backups? My external hard drive is full, but it has been that way for a while now. Time Machine has been deleting old backups to make room. Maybe it’s time for me to step in and delete? How long should one keep back ups? Mine are going back to 2013 now. It use to be 2011. I am leaning towards deleting up to the start of 2015. Might this help? What are your thoughts and advice? Thanks, Traci PS. Any recommendations, if I decide to buy a new external hard drive? My current one is a Seagate 250GB. Maybe starting fresh would be a good idea. -- The following information is important for all members of the Mac Visionaries list.
