Hi, Yes, Google Chrome and ChromeVox is specifically designed for the Google ecosystem, so is able to navigate Google Docs and other Google apps better. There is a learning curve though for ChromeVox as it is not the same as VO, nor those Windows screen readers. So, you get to learn another language :).
If you prefer to use Safari and VO, try pressing cmd-r to Reload the page and you can usually read the document again by arrowing through it. One caution I have to add here with respect to Google Docs being sent to you via eMail. I suggest that you do either or both of the following when opening Google Docs that are shared or eMailed to you. First, is to make sure that your browser is open and to be logged in before opening the linked Google Doc. There is a huge number of phishing expedition eMails out there that send you Google Docs in this manner. They appear to be from someone you know but usually are just a really well planned scam. Once you go to open the linked Google document, it asks you to login to your gMail. When you do, they've got your gMail ID and password and within seconds are making changes to and scanning your gMail and documents for usable info. If you know that you're already logged in and it asks you to log in upon opening this Google Doc, then you know it's phishing and to stop right there and delete the eMail and do not enter any credentials. The second method is to enable Two Step or Two Factor authentication which protects you even if you accidentally enter credentials by sending you a text verification whenever someone attempts to log in on a device not normally associated with you. OK, I'll jump off my soap-box now and close down this long-winded answer to your question :). Later... ChromeVox has its own way of dong things, you'll also need to turn off VoiceOver when using Chrome and ChromeVox. I had to open it in Safari. I wasn’t sure how to use it using voiceover. I read through the document once but when I tried to review it a 2nd time I didn’t seem to be able to do it. Does anyone on this list use it? Could you give me some tips? Marie Lyons -- The following information is important for all members of the Mac Visionaries list.
