Leave it on overnight and see what happens. A new macintosh needs to create
indexes of your files, and if you requested FileVault protection it will
also be going through and encrypting all the files on the partition. You
could look at activity monitor if there are still issues, or just go into
the Apple store for consult on this. But I expect that just allowing the
initial system tuning to work its magic will result all your performance
issues.
