The chat is accessable w/ VO if you change from Group to DOM mode. For whatever reason, DOM mode works much better for HTML content that is getting updated. This might be one of those places where using AppleScript with VO might make sense. If there is a call back when windows change that is available to VO, then one could change the HTM L navigation mode appropriately rather then assigning it to a hot key.
