Hello,
In the windows menu there is a "Mute this window" and Mute a windows actually
the word Window might be tab instead. Since this appears as a menu item, it is
possible to setup a application keyboard shortcut to do this. My memory is
that there is also a button to do this in the tab bar when sound is active.
