Hi Donna,

Yeah it’s weird but yes I can pair my Plantronics 5200 to my watch and phone at
the same time without issue but yeah the pods don’t so we all wait to hear
about this update.

Alex,

I will. What I read says the AirPods pair with the watch and phone
simultaneously. That makes sense if you think about the fact that the watch
and the phone are already paired. But I will send an update.
Cheers,
Donna

I hope you tell us about your experience once that bug gets fixed, then. I
mostly want to know what will happen if, say, you're listening to audio on iOS
and check the time or a notification on your Watch. Will the Watch speech steal
the Pods from your phone? Is there a certain amount of time for which you have
to use a device before it switches? I'd love to hear how this all works. No pun
intended.

Hi Alex,

It's only automatic between the watch and the phone. I think it's because the
watch and the phone are already paired. The tech told me that VO should not
interfere, that is, just as when i use VO on my phone and it comes over my
AirPods, the same should happen with the watch once this bug is addressed.
Cheers,
Donna

Audio issues aside, I'm really surprised to hear that audio switching is
automatic. For sighted users, I have to wonder if media playback is the key?
That is, notification sounds on one device won't cause the Pods to take over,
but music or podcasts will. If that's the case, and I don't know that it is,
then how will VO speech interfere?

Hi all,

Just got off the phone with Apple tech support, and have an update that those
of you with AirPods will want to know. Apparently, the issue with the AirPods
not picking up audio from the apple watch is a known issue that is being worked
on. I was told to expect a fix in a future update. And I was correct, when
working properly, the AirPods should automatically detect whether you are using
the phone or the Watch, and automatically switch to the correct device. The
need for manually switching between phone and Mac is the proper behavior.

Hope this is helpful.
Cheers,
Donna
