Yes Simon I am sure. Take a look for yourself. (smiles)

Hmmm. I cannot reformat the internal SSD. I ran First Aid on both its
partition which passed and its volume which failed. Might replace it.
Meanwhile I did rescue the external drive and restored to it.

hey,
I basically had to erase every partition and start again.

Michael,
How did you manage to change the format back to macOS Extended? Whether I try
to do this under the Partition tab or Erase tab, I get a failed error message.
I went into Internet Recovery but could not use the macOS Extended format. I
had tried to boot my 10.12.5 installer and when I attempted the installation,
the error message said I was trying to install over a newer macOS version,
something like that. Yet I cannot erase the drive.
Back to Internet Recovery. What is different here as opposed to the normal
command-r method?

Internet Recovery, Erase my Entire Drive Including All Petitions And Restore
From a Time Machine Backup I am not going to try this again until the main

In the installer.
You need to check the checkbox that says upgrade to APFS, it
doesn't upgrade by default.

I looked all over for that option but its nowhere to be found.
One site I googled points out where it is but no. The site also
indicated that one can switch to APFS after the fact.
Something else is going on. Hit 99% and I am bounced back to
the login screen.

Created the installer with Terminal, and booted from it. I am
using the old hard drive I replaced with an SSD. If I am not
mistaken, its to be formatted with Mac extended journaled?
Then back to the screen to select the install option. I select
the old hard drive and it starts the process. At 99% it
abruptly kicks me back to the login screen. Did I miss something?
