Hi Donna,

Have you got your old mac book in target disk mode?

I assume you are using some cable type be it network or thunderbolt or are you
using wifi?

The last time I did a migration it required the older machine to be in target
disk mode which is a case of turning the machine completely off and then hold
the "T" key down while the machine starts up, then see if your new mac book
picks up the older device.

Oh and target disk mode from memory doesn't have any audio indication that
it's in the mode.

 Hope this helps.

If by any chance this doesn't work,
Possibly your new mac book is broken and then you'll need to send it to me to
have it fixed!

I'll even give you 5 bucks for it to say thanks....

I mean pay for the repairs...

Lol..

Subject: Migration assistant question

Hi all,

I am trying to migrate content from my old Mac to my new one. For the first
time, I am trying to use migration assistant rather than a time machine back
up, because my recollection is that someone on this list that that is a better
way to do this.

Both Max have been stuck in the same place for about two hours now. On the new
Mac voiceover is saying checking Donna's MacBook air. The continue button is
dimmed. There is a progress bar, but voiceover does not give me any information
about it. Two hours seems like a very long time to be stuck in the same place.
I have not yet checked what content I want to migrate. Can anyone help?

Thanks,
Donna
