Hi Tim, I’m happy to work in the terminal but it’s more my linux knowledge is not really up to scratch, Yet my power shell and dos skills are fine.
But yeah GUI I think at this point would be easier. But then hey gotta learn sometime and nothing like jumping in the shark tank to learn to swim. You will have first needed to set up a forwarder that will forward requests that come to the router for Server Admin tasks to be forwarded to your Server internal IP. With all that set up, you can manage the server using the app on a different Mac. The limitations happen when you're using a different version of the Server app on each machine these won't properly talk to each other. I just have a drive with multiple MacOS's on it with multiple versions of Server app. So, when I want to manage an el Capitan server installation, I use the 10.11.6 installation and so on for Sierra etc. Later...
