I have what is probably the equivalent of well over 700 cd's which
adds up to almost 40gigs. That is nothing for most people I am sure.
Digital content is definitely easy to manage.

Angus,
ET does point out a big issue and that is space,
CD's do after a while start taking up storage space I've got my 200 sitting

harddrive from one of my servers.
So really it's up to what works for you.
As Tim says, no reason that ripping cd's into mp3 will allow you to have access
to everything via airplay

Subject: Re: iTunes Versus CDs
Hi,
With AirPlay and Bluetooth technologies nowadays, purchasing from iTunes allows
you to share your music with whoever you wish in full stereo or surround sound.
All my music has either been ripped from CD, digitized from LP, or purchased
from iTunes. All songs are able to be played through my two audio receivers
and one sound bar via AirPlay or through via Bluetooth to my Bose Mini 2. The
audio quality from a CD vs the high quality iTunes format is negligible unless
you're using the digital outputs from the CD unit to the receiver. Even then,
unless you're an audio-file, I'm not certain that most people would notice the
difference.
So, in my opinion, after that long-winded reply, I'd probably choose the iTunes
version, but that's just my opinion.

The CD will have better Fidelity. It might cost more. You could always rip it

While I fully respect your question, it is a bit open ended.
Do you mean technically? in terms of sitting in your living room with the
adorable stereo of your choice, verses wearing small headphones not sharing the
musical magic with anyone?
Just one interpretation.
