Hi William, or since you are using a gmail address, you could create rules that end and have them go across to your other devices. Just another option to consider.
Note: if you do decide to go the gmail root. Gmail calls folders labels and rules filters. I hope this have been of some help. P.S. Its funny you have mentioned message rules. I myself have just figured out how to create them server side from my internet service provider over here in the UK and while it wasn’t what I call a fun process to set them up.
