Fat32 if files are less than 4gig,
Xfat if over 4gig ,
Or setup a file share from his windows machine to allow the mac to see it and
then copy everything across.

Subject: Transferring files from PC to Mac

Hi all,
a friend of mine has seen the light and has purchased an iMac & a Mac laptop.
He now wishes to take all his files from his PC to the Mac. What is the easiest
way to do this? I can’t remember what I did more than 5 years ago when I made
the switch. The only way I can think of is to get a USB drive and copy all his
powerpoint and other documents he has and then connect it to the Mac and
re-copy them again. If this is the way to do it what should he format the drive
to so both machines can read the drive?
Thanks for any advice.
Max.
