Fat32 if files are less than 4gig, Xfat if over 4gig , Or setup a file share from his windows machine to allow the mac to see it and then copy everything across.

The only way I can think of is to get a USB drive and copy all his powerpoint and other documents he has and then connect it to the Mac and re-copy them again.
