I have access to one of the older generation Focus displays, and I've been
shown the newer generation in a demonstration.

Braille display support in Mac OS has its oddities. For example, I can start
reading the body of an e-mail message in Microsoft Outlook for Mac, but the
display isn't updated to show the message content at all, even though it's
spoken correctly.

Anyone who wants to work entirely in braille with no speech (as I sometimes do)
would have a difficult time under Mac OS, despite recent improvements. Those
who are deaf blind are likely to encounter difficulties, obviously.

BRLTTY under Linux, NVDA and JAWS under Windows offer the best braille support
in a desktop environment, I would suggest.

Subject: New Generation Focus 40.

Hi.

Is anyone using the new Generation Focus?? I hope to have one on Monday.

I got it at a discount as well as I persuaded the distributor to let me have
one!

I know Braille support on the Mac isn't too great or is it now? I will be able
to connect the display to all my devices which I'm looking forward to.

Kawal.
