Hi,

Connect it via USB to your Mac and leave it connected for about 10 minutes
before going into iTunes. After the wait, open iTunes and see if the iPad is
visible through iTunes. If not, make sure that the cables you're using do
properly work. Even though they are Apple cables, they can fail after fibres
break. To test, just connect that same cable to your iPad 3 and see if it
charges. Do the same test for the power block. If the block is OK as well as
the cable, then there likely is a bigger issue. If you find any
inconsistencies with the cables or power block, try charging it with a known
working cable. Allow it to charge for at least half an hour before doing any
other troubleshooting. After the half an hour of charge, I'd try connecting
again to your Mac. This is the best way of knowing if the iPad is responding.
If iTunes on your Mac sees the iPad, then we can have hope. I would also try
the restore method that you already attempted whereby you hold down the Home
button while starting it up with a USB connection to the Mac. Note that this
method only works if the iPad is actually powered down prior to the USB
connection to the Mac. If the iPad is somehow powered up but you're just not
able to tell due to no audible indication, that method will return an error.

Allowing your iPad to drain as you did should not have been any reason for this
problem. Now, if you were watching the Olympics and Sweden was beating Canada,
then that could be the problem :), that's simply not allowed in my world.

Hi!
I have a Huge! Problem.
I bought an Ipad mini in July 2016 which has worked flawlessly until last
saturday.
Then the battery was drained when i was listening to the Olympics and i think i
forgot to lock the ipad so it was of corse drained faster.
Anyhow i can not start it up.
I have tried to recharge it through a wall plug and also tried to hold the home
and the on/off/lock/unlock button together for 15 seconds to get it started.
This does not work for me.
I have tried connect it to my Mac while holding down the home key so that
Itunes starts in recovery mode for the ipad.
I get an error message -9 something and that it could not send a message to the
device.
I hope its not lost so i have to go en get me a new one.
I am using apple cables only if this is a problem.
Anything else i can do before i contact Apple support and ask for repair?
I have no apple care plan for this device so i guess this will drain my
Echonomy somewhat.
Luckely i have an Ipad mini 3 here which works even though its slow but it
works.
Any help is ofcorse appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
/A
