Hi Krista, I can tell you one thing that makes the apple earpods shit, If you don’t charge them for a few days then the bloody things cut out during phone calls.
I just don’t get it, why can’t they stay functioning until the call your on is ended. Crap, absolute shit. You unlock your phone, open the AirPods case near the phone, and wait a moment. You'll be asked if you want to pair the AirPods with the phone, to which you answer that you do. Once that's done, insert the AirPods into your ears, and off you go. To control what each Pod does when you tap it twice, open Settings, then Bluetooth. Find your AirPods in the list, go to More Info, and find the settings there. Each Pod can skip forward or back, play/pause, or invoke Siri when you double tap it. You can have two different commands (one per Pod) or use the same command on both. To stop using AirPods, just remove them. To use them again, put them in. If you insert them, they chime to indicate they're on, but sound doesn't route to them, open your control center. Do a 3d press (or double tap and hold on devices lacking that ability) on the playback controls to expand that section. Find and double tap "playback destination", and choose your airPods from that list. I find that, if sound doesn't go to my AirPods right away, I can issue a play command (since my left Pod is set up for that) and sound usually goes to them on its own. There's more to them, like how to use them with other devices, but that should be more than enough to get you started.
