It's really painful for me to put this out there, but if you're looking for something vario ultra like without getting embroiled in their financial situation, how about the focus 40 fifth generation? I haven't seen one yet and so this is not an endorsement. Also I don't enjoy the politics of vfo and so this is not a recommendation. However, it seems that some one recognized the low build quality of the focus 40 and decided to improve it right when baum was week. So on paper, the focus 40 fifth generation has individually built cells with shock absorbing technology to withstand droping. It also connects to four bluetooth and one usb devices and allows for fast switching as with the baum. I don't think it has the vibrate feature. At least, it's not in the brochure.

So, I don't love it, but the focus may be an option if you can not get hold of a vario or if you decide the bankrupsy issue is too much for you to take on.

Personally I think it's time for the braille edge to get an update to support multiple devices. I just acquired one and as a bit of a device junky, I really miss this feature even though I've never had it.

Best,

Erik

I have the opportunity to replace my Braille Edge. Donna, I hope you
will chime in.

I can choose just about anything but will limit my choice to either
another Edge or the Vario Ultra 40. Given that Baum is in bankruptcy,
the question is then what about tech support. Is the Vario Ultra still a
good bet?
