I haven't used a HandyTech display, but my understanding is that they can
transfer files to a host computer by emulating a keyboard and writing the file
into whatever text editor or word processor you're using.

This should work well on the Mac. I don't know how transfers in the other
direction (from host computer to braille display) are handled, though, if you
don't have their Microsoft Windows-only file transfer tool.

transfer, but I had to use a usb stick for vu so that’s no problem to me. no I
cannot use the file transfer program, but I have no problem converting
documents to brf and putting them on the card. It does remember your last
reading position, yes.

strongly disliked the file transfer protocol. The display had to be connected
to the computer, and you used some program under Windows Utilities I think,
like maybe VTerm? It was slow and annoying. How does one currently move files
back and forth between the displays you mention and a Mac or PC?
